Soon-to-be no more!

Post by Fledgling » Sat Jun 10, 2017 6:20 am

So I've posted a few times about the set up I was preparing and my hopes to adopt/buy some crabs....well, the adoption is going through and I bought my first crab last night! I would've waited until the adoptees got here, but this little guy was at the pet store I work at and seemed to be in desperate need of a molt. He/she had been hiding under the water dish for about a week or so and is very pale. On the ride home he made himself a little cave out of the wet paper towel in the carrying cup :).

He/she spent the night exploring my 10 gal set up, feeling decorations and checking out shells, and has just started digging under (only about an inch down so far). I'm just a little concerned because he didn't touch the lovely homecoming buffet I set out for him (honey, peanut butter, mealworms, worm castings, crushed shell, crushed cuttlebone, and THCP Red, White, and Blue mix) before starting to dig. I know he hasn't had much to eat in the past week or so (I've only been able to add small amounts of shrimp and coconut to the bowl of pellets at work), but he seems lively enough (I think). I haven't named him yet, I want to come up with something good!
