I'm gonna be a crab mommy tomorrow!

Post by WhimsyMimsyMo » Thu Aug 03, 2017 11:47 am

Finally I have an appropriate setup for crabs, 5:1 substrate, nice deep and climbablewater bowls and a good food bowl. Shells galore. Lid and hinge have been made. Two levels. Now all I have to do is go get some crabs! I hope I make a difference in these poor crabs' lives with the yucky painted shells and such. One is going to be purchased in my town tomorrow and I will be testing the tank as it explores, until we go on vacation later, which is at a beach town and those crabs are even more desperate. I'll be talking proper care to the "keepers" as I'm "picking out" (ugh) a couple more small/tiny crabs for this tank I have set up and already on a light/heat timer. I'm still probably going to at least attempt to grow living greens for the crabs. However, they'll probably be growing in separate containers until they're ready to get eaten and dug up and all that jazz. Unfortunately I am without a camera... but when that's fixed what I really want to do is create a log including a photograph for the week and daily entries about crab specific anything. And of course finally pictures when I can.

Yay! That's so exciting! Have you checked out Craigslist for crabs to adopt?

Right now adoption isn't the best option for me because I'm a new crab mommy tomorrow, even though I have had them when I was in my single digits still, I'll be learning as I go and I don't wanna snuff out a light that has been fully loved by another.

In my Lunie post, the tank has one level... because the level I did was not sturdy and thank goodness I found out before I brought him home.
