Depends on the kind of plant. They can eat oak leaves and bark, violets, clover, roses, and more! Check out the safe food list. If it's on there, they can eat it. :) Just make sure it hasn't been treated with any pesticides or chemicals. Organic is best. You can also grow chia seeds directly in the tank. They'll sprout into a little chia patch. :D

The pools should be deep enough to submerge. And you should double each pool so when you remove the top one to clean, the bottom keeps the shape in the sand. Here's a link. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=113691&hilit=double+dish+yo

What is the brand name of the dechlorinator and the salt? We can tell you if they are appropriate.

Saw this really late k .. still looking I need to go buy rupper ware containers I have 2 ok pools want better ones ! I get scared on how deep and how he will get out ... i need like net ... i just got Timothy hay... a big like net looking thing but idk if I should cut ...

Real question ... do I have to double my pools every time I take something out I replace it right away even before crabbie moves ... so nothing happens .... I can just put it right back to the spot or move it

When I buy baby food, I freeze what's left in the jar (most of it) in contact lens holders and label it. Or you can freeze it in ice cube trays. And even if you buy an organic apple or whatever, you only need to buy 1 at any given time so it's pretty cheap.
Contact lens holders are a great idea! I just bought baby food (and successfully used it to hand feed my crab for the first time yesterday  ) and was going to buy a tray for tiny ice cubes on Amazon, but maybe I'll go the contact lens route instead :)

Hermie Escape Artist - be sure to read through the FAQ and Care Guide sections, there is lots of essential information in there.

What brands of dechlorinator and marine salt are you using?

Your pools should be deep enough that the crab can submerge, not neccesary for them to swim. They will of course need a way to get out of the pools - some people use rocks in the bottom or something for a ladder. You don't NEED to double up the pools, some people just find it easier. Cheap Rubbermaid type containers work, doesn't have to be fancy or expensive!
