NEW CRABS

Post by crabs_lex » Thu Dec 31, 2020 8:28 pm

i just rescued four new crabs in a 20 gallon tank
for now they are in the 20 gallon but when they get bigger they will go in my 55 gallon
i’m going to buy them more plants to climb and they defiantly need more shells
but they are very healthy and happy to explore their redecorated home!!
i’m going to build a custom stand for them like i have for my 55 gallon tank
but also i need to know what heater goes best with a 20 gallon? because i was able to get a good ultratherm one for my 55 gallon but 20 gallons are a lot shorter and i’ve never had to buy one for one
and ik they aren’t as tall as a 55 gallon obviously so i do t want to heat the substrate
and suggestions?

I ended up with the 6" x 11" from Reptile Basics. It keeps my 20 gal long pretty warm. The 6"x 23" was out of stock. A lot of them seem to be out of stock at the moment. From what Wodesorel says, she has some of her uth's cover the whole back/sides of the tank with no problems. Your sand might dry out a little quicker though. As long as the uth is never under the tank, you're good. Looks like RB has the 11x17" still in stock.
Happy New Year!

PS-My usual room temp is is 71-74°F, and with the uth, the tank stays between 76-80°F.
