For raising the temp, you can just wrap the lid with saran wrap and put a blanket on top.( if you have a grated lid)
For the crab, can you post a picture?
I am not sure about the rope, I have never used it before.
You can use food from your kitchen, plus there are some etsy stores you can shop at. Don't use commercial foods unless you are sure they are safe because they can be toxic. You can look at the commercial food section on the food page.
What size is your tank and what size are your crabs?
What is the humidity?
