Call me Crabinski, Mom to four handsome PPs: Felix, Harry, Enzo and Ignatz aka Iggy. As far as I can tell, they're all guys. Felix has been with me for 6+ years, Harry about 3 years, Enzo about 4 months and Iggy about 2 months. Felix is pale pink, never changes his shell (well, once), and is tough as nails -- he's the head honcho, in spite of still being a small crab...the King of the 10g tank, always patrolling, day or night. He's also the inveterate pincher! Harry is getting toward medium-sized, is a dark red-copper, rarely changes shells, is afraid of his own shadow and is even intimidated by teensy-weensy Iggy

I've been keeping hermit crabs since 2008, starting with Felix and his late roommate, Oscar. They're such marvelous creatures, so entertaining. People are always amazed when I tell them that each crab has his own personality and habits, that they're not just "walking shells." Looking forward to getting ideas for redesigning their crabitat and have already learned a ton about what commercial foods and "special hermit crab sand" to avoid, etc. I also have fancy mice and am continually amazed at products sold specifically for mice that are, hands down, bad or even lethal for them so it really doesn't surprise me that that holds true for hermit crab products, too.
