Resin? Are you talking about the Christmas card?landlubber wrote:That resin thing with the face is awesome. I am sure it will look great when it's finished.
Thanks for the info, the substrate is between 5-7 inches depending on the area, I do plan to get the smallest too. I have a really small tank that my parents got me because they thought it would be fine, I want to make that into a level just don't know how, I also need info on how to keep the UTH on the side of the tankaussieJJDude wrote:Some things you might want to consider:
- More substrate. Unless Exo-terra have made a new line that can hold deeper substrate/water depth; then your got around 3 - 5 inches in there. Max.Best thing for the crabs is to get them some more substrate, plus with the small footprint and vertical space; deeper substrate would be something that worth considering.
- Water pools. I noticed that you have the exo-terra ones. They are rather shallow and would only recommend them for crabs less then a golf ball. Not to mention that small crabs can and will grow quickly so at most have some back up options. (Also; do you have sponges in the water dishes? Sponges are a big no-no IMO as the only thing they really do is make a breeding ground for bacteria. Just leave the sponges around of substrate for them to nibble on - dry. A lot of owners have noted that their crabs love to eat sponges)
- Levels. Ok, I understand that you just set it up. But like mentioned earlier the tank has a small foot-print and is rather tall. A good way to maximise space is to have some levels. A good idea to free up the substrate is to have the food, water, shell and other items on the level(s), that way your crabbies can run around the bottom.
(Also; if your unsure on how many crabs to keep; I would suggest a max of 3; maybe 4 if your going to upgrade less than a year. Try and pick the smallest crabs too!)
