NEW CRABS

I got four new crabs today!! Yipee!!
So things I've noticed so far:
-old crabitat was OK . shells were bad, broken and cracked.
- I've got some escape artists
- one crab is missing big pincher and is deathly afraid of the biggest crab. The biggest crab has been crawling on top of all the other crabs. Kind of makes me think he's the bully.

- all crabs are pretty jumpy rn

-all crabs have molted recently

- one crab has already changed shells

I'll post more updates once I've got everything situated

Okay I can now relax (sort of) and update y'all. So, I was very stressed out today with school and then the crabs because I knew I had nothing together and I had no ides when they were coming.

They have been switching shells like crazy. Its been going on ever since I got the tank completely done which was like ten minutes ago.

I seriously have some escape artists on my hands. They have got some talent. And they are so sneaky. I think tension with the bully has calmed. He's not running anymore.

I havent sexed one of the crabs. Its very shy, but I so far have one girl and two boys.

One crab has a molting sac. And because they keep switching shells I can't tell which one it is. I'm thinking it's the one in the smallest Babylonian shell (I think that's what it's called)

They are all purple pinchers. I'm feeding them apple slices, apple sauce, cuttlebone, crushed oyster shell, surf and turf, and bugs n blossoms from the hermit crab patch.

Humidity and heat is where it needs to be. And I'm hoping they go in the water at some point I wanna see what they think of the bubblers.

I have all four in a ten gallon because I need more Eco earth and a new heater. Is this okay to keep them in for a little while?

One crab can't choose between the Babylonian or the green turbo. He's switched back and forth at least ten times with in the last 15 minutes. Here it goes again.


If this one is a guy I wanna name him Bruce. He hasn't changed shells at all.

You might want to think about a bigger tank in the future..If your crabs all go down to molt that's not much room to bury down travel around and find a good spot without running into another crab. A bigger tank also gives you more room for climbing, second levels and they do grow. Where did you get your crab size chart?? I want it!! Crabs change when THEY want to change..and when they do..doesn't mean they will stay changed.. buyers remorse..

I did a tiny photoshoot so I could tell y'all their names and get some better pics. Feel free to give opinions on Finding Nemo names I could give them.


This crab is female. I think I want to name her flo or coral or any other girl name from Finding Nemo. Not sure yet.


I'm kind of thinking I want to name this guy Nigel.


These guys wouldn't stop moving , so these pics are kind of blurry. I don't really know what to name him

. I would like to name him Bruce or Gill. I really like both, but Gill has a messed up fin and this crab is missing his big pincher. So I'm really unsure about him. He's also my escape artist. Maybe I'll name the crab in the last picture Bruce if i name this one Gill.

These crabbies are so active! I love it!

Tonight I've witnessed for the first time: wait for it... A crab actually eating the freeze dried shrimp!! This made me happy I thought it was a waste of money but yay!! Gill seems to like it, he took a whole piece and is just chowing down!

Witnessed another few shell changes. And Squirt is climbing all over. (The guy I had no clue what to name is now squirt. )
Looks like squirt is gonna finish Gills shrimp.

Coral and Nigel are both searching the shell shop.

So as you can tell I have named the Hermie's. I think that's how they are gonna stay. I'm happy with them! Love these little guys!
