New Additions & Current Residents

Post by marandashermies » Tue Jan 26, 2016 10:28 am

Got a couple new guys last night and for the most part they are doing good. I added two small/medium's to my 125g and 3 micro/smalls to my 55g.

Here is the first little guy. He took off right when I put him in the tank. However, he is missing two walking legs, so he kind of wobbles around. Hopefully he will go down for a molt soon!

The one in the front of the pic below, is doing great and was put and about, shell shopping this morning. He has all his limbs :)
The sweet guy behind him is missing his BP and a walking leg. He has been sitting in and around the same spot since last night. I thought he passed last night as he was just sitting there staring at me, no antenna movement and not moving. He doesn't retract when I am near or open the tank. This morning I picked him up thinking he had passed, and he popped right out to say hello! I am so happy he is OK! He seems like a fighter. I put him next to some honey and PB, but he wasn't feeling that. I held him over the fresh water pool to see if he wanted to drink and he wasn't interested in that either, so I put him inside my resign tree hide so he could relax and be out of the way of the other crabs. He doesn't walk well, but has so much spirit. I am praying he can dig down today and molt to regenerate those lost limbs.

Here is my little gimpy guy again- he is seriously so friendly and sweet. I am gonna be so sad if he doesn't make it.

:(

This pretty gal came in the shell that is right next to her. She got up and ran over to the green turbo and switched to that immediately. Very pretty crab

This guy is a character! He was around the pools the entire evening, until I went to bed around 11pm.

But then, he saw a net and crawled up it. Found a corner guard and started to walk along it, while trying to push the screen and plexiglass off. Until....
Image

WHOOSH! He flies backwards like a cannon ball and PLUNK bounces off a flower and SPLASH! Into the fresh water pool (see all the bubbles he made). :hlol: I was laughing so hard, I was almost crying. Here he is crawling out of the pool. lol
Image

Then he sat there, stunned. Wondering what just happened. He had to gather himself, before he could go on to his next adventure. :D

Some of my other crew decided to come out and investigate. Others were out, but all those pics were even more blurry then these!

shy guy, not sure who this is

Hopefully all my new guys adjust and have successful molts soon! I have a pretty good feeling about all these guys, even with missing limbs and all :)

Congrats on the newbies! In a wonderful set-up like yours, they're bound to adapt quickly, have successful molts and regrow everything that needs regrowing.

Love the "Oops! Splash!" pool story as I've seen the same thing happen so often with my crew. The look they have after climbing out after that unplanned swim is so akin to that of the cat that falls off the back of the couch while grooming and then puts on the classic "Oh, that? I meant to do that!" face.

Oh My Gosh...they are all so adorable! And what a great storyteller you are! I love the tale of the misadventures of Mr. Character! :hlol: I hope the little ones under the weather thrive in your care.

Oh, and I must say again how amazing that cholla is. If you haven't already you should do a review of this lady's cholla on the forum. If she has such great product, reasonably priced, and the kind of customer service you described-that lady deserves more business!!!

awww thanks Crabinski :D
That is totally what I was thinking too! That he was just looking at me thinking, "yah did that just happen"? "Please don't tell anyone, I am new here and still figuring things out". hahaha I felt like such a crazy person standing at the tank in the middle of the night, just dying of laughter and pointing. :hlol: I can't wait to get home from work and see what they are up too. I bought the babes in my 125g a 36" LED light with a built in timer for moon & day light, so I am so excited to see how they like it!

thanks :cloud9: My straws were hiding out last night and letting the PP's go crazy! That's actually a really good idea. I will connect with her again and see if she has her website up and running yet. If not, I can direct people to her eBay store. I will for sure never buy Cholla elsewhere!

I agree with landlubber- I too would be very likely to purchase from her if she really is that good at working with people- much rather spend my money with somebody that cares about or at the very least has an interest in what I'm using their product for! :)
