Hello everyone, i'm James.
I have only had my crabs for 2 weeks, but i feel confident i'm ready to join the crabber ranks.

I have 9 purple pinchers, and there great!
This saturday i have an 80gallon tank comming for them, so there in a 30gallon for now.
Temp holds 74F, and 74 humidity.
I have both playsand and coconut fibre eco earth substrate.
Wich is 6" with a corner low spot of 3", for if the wanna chill out.
with the 80gallon, i will definitely be getting more substrate.
mesh, vines, and branches for climbing.
yes the branches are crab safe and i sterilized them in the oven.

Once the 80gallon tank is here and set-up, i will definitely take some photos for yas.
during the day their not active at all, but at night when the lights off there starting to run around more.

Thanks to the HCA website for helping me obtain the knowledge to give my new little buddies the best home i can.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you're off to a good start, especially getting that tank upgrade -- as you'll find out, hermit crabs can have amazing growth spurts each time they molt, particularly when they're small, so it can get a bit crowded fairly quickly!

Just two suggestions: (1) try to get your temperature and humidity up to 80/80 as temps consistently below 75 can be detrimental to the crabs and, as they have modified gills to breathe, the more humid the better; (2) although it's visually attractive to have varying depths of substrate, a consistent depth is more conducive to healthy molting -- once you move up to the 80g tank and increase the depth to 8" or more, you could drop a section down to the baseline 6" for the visual effect without adversely affecting the crabs.

Thank you.
bringing up the humidity and temp won't be a problem at all.
yes, with the 80gallon. I i plan to have 2 levels with the substrate but only to support there climbing equipment
The 80gallon is going to be a big deal, i'm super excited!
Also obtained 123 shells. I shouldn't need shells for awhile xp and yes they vary in sizes.
Mostly turbo shells.
