Hi. I'm Crystal. Just took in four hermit crabs in the last month or so. Started with two in a ten gallon. I realized that it was too small and upgraded to a 30 gallon and added 2 more crabs. So far 3 of them are under and only one hangs out up. I have two in the ten gallon still. I'm hoping they don't stay down for too long because I'm really trying to make the big tank awesome. I have lots of shells in there for them. I got the hermit crabs for my seven year old thinking it would be much simpler. After researching them I realized they need so much more and once I get my set up complete it will be easy peasy. But not cheap 🤣 so here I am!

Welcome to the HCA. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Be sure to check out the FAQ's and Care Sheets. There is a ton of great information there in one place. Just about everything you need to know is covered there.

I agree, most people have no idea what it takes to properly care for our pinchy friends. They definitely aren't the easy to care for creature everyone makes them out to be. Like any other pet they are an investment and with proper care will be with you many years!
