I first want to thank everyone in this association! I was wanting some low maintenance pets that I could care for maybe weekly and thought Hermit crabs were the go to. Especially since I had a few growing up as a kid (which unfortunately didn't end up living long). I plan to redeem myself! after researching and finding this site I realized how much care they really need/require to have a healthy happy life.
So today I purchased 3 small hermits! They came with natural shells, and are already looking at some of the empty shells I placed in their tank! they are in a 10 gal tank until they outgrow it, with about 6 inch of sand/eco earth mix. they have their salt and fresh water which I bought the Tetra AuquaSafe for Bettas and instant ocean to treat the water. 2 of them are already exploring EVERYTHING in their new home (including their sphagnum moss pit), as the 3rd is just hiding right now (hopefully after a week or so will have warmed up). currently one is eating apple! really neat to watch them!
question, I'd like to put some plants in their tank, any suggestions for some small plants?
I look forward to this journey and will send some pictures soon
-thanks for your time!

Re: New Owner!
Congratulations and welcome to the HCA! This place is a great resource with a lot of kind people here to help. Between the care sheets and the members, I have 5 happy crabs! Love that you’re adding plants, my tank is practically a jungle...but I figure our cool little hermies are tropical so it’s like their natural habitat. They’re either climbing on the vines or hiding behind them, haha. Sucks when I can’t see them because of it, but I at least know they’re happy and that makes me happy! Have fun with it and don’t hesitate with questions
. Looking forward to pics!
