Might have a molter?

Post by lorderagon » Tue Sep 06, 2016 8:37 am

So I recently posted on here about a hermit crab that was naked. A very helpful member let me know what happened to the little guy and gave me a lot of information to fix our living conditions for our remaining crab. Anyway we ended up with a second crab (Apollo) who is a teeny that we put in with our medium crabbie (Mercury). Apollo was a rescue from our local pet store who were baking their crabs. Today we are getting the final pieces we need to set up a 55g tank for them, but we haven't seen Apollo in quite a bit of time. Mercury has been out every night but I am worried for Apollo. The last time I saw him, Mercury kind of ran him over and sat on him for a little bit. I dont think he was bei mg a bully but im not completely sure honestly. The tank doesnt smell bad just maybe musty. I guess my question is should we dig him up to move him when the tank is set up or should we wait until we see him? We are going to wait until Mercury is out before moving him.

Wait until you see him out. Try to check at night if you get the chance, he might be coming out then. Unfortunately it's hard to know if they're actually molting or just underground, and disturbing a molt can be very harmful. Switching tanks can be tricky.
