So we had a good run but it looks like they want to molt again. Over the last month, All 4 have now gone back down. The 1st to go back down came back up after maybe a week, grabbed a new shell and went back down! This was the same day I added the new shells. It's like she somehow knew there were some new shells to look at.

Can crabs molt again this quickly?

We bought 2 new crabs since the tank looks empty again.

They can definitely molt that quickly
And everybody buys new crabs because the tank is empty
And then the new crabs bury too
Hopefully between these 2 crab-batches you can have 1-2 up at a time. Just remember they might all molt at once, and have enough substrate volume for all crabs at once
Hope you have a good one! Out of 5 crabs i only have 1 good one that stays up a lot and is active.

In my 75g right now I have only 3/9 up. Five of them have been down since November, the other since October. At least Athelas and Niphredil keep me entertained, Cinnamon is a lazy bum.

Don't even get me started on crabs staying down. I have 5 up. Maybe. That means 13 are just hanging out underground, doing their own thing. My large, Gregor, came up 5 days ago after successfully molting for the first time (yay!!!) and I immediately ordered 10 new shells since his is too small. Then, he dug back down the next day and I haven't seen him since. I remember the days of having just 5 crabs, carefully documenting and logging everything...sigh.

I still try my best to track when they dig down and when they come up. Sometimes I have exact dates, other times just the month. I do head counts now and then. Also shell changes. I'll lose track once in a while and have to take the time figuring out who's who. I usually can after a lot of comparing and gender checking. I'm not going to lie though...there have been a few times I've just thrown my hands up and said "oh well, you're this one and you're that one".

It all went downhill for me when I had 5 crabs the same size change into almost identical green turbos. I pretty much have just guessed who's who at this point (other than few I can't mix up with anyone) and randomly assign names. I think almost everyone has had at least 1 molt with me, so that takes my stress level down a little. If the little jerks want to hide underground and not party with the cool crabs, that's their problem.

I'm having the same problem . I just have 3 PP's and I'm sure all of them have molted in the last 3 months . They were active for a while but I have 2 down again . My little guy is up and about all the time . Image

That's such a cute crab! When I got my crabs 3 out of 4 decided to molt together for over a month. My family and I were nearly convinced my largest Tamatoa had eaten all her friends. When they came up she decided it was her turn to molt lol. I haven't seen her in about 3 weeks now.
