Hunkering down

Post by piratetoothgir » Sat Apr 21, 2018 6:11 pm

There’s a huge storm approaching, and very loud thunder right now.
Thought I’d go check on my crabs, and there was nobody in sight! Everyone has taken shelter under the wood, or in sand holes.

Anyone else have this happen when storms occur?

I've read that they tend to get more active.

Mine loved to hide whenever a storm came. Whenever there was a storm, they would all disappear on me.

It could be either one, sometimes they hide, other times they come out. I guess mine hide when storms are around.

I just had placed the foods, and nobody came out until really late. They were all across the back, wondering if it was safe to come out.

This is hermit crabs to a T. I was reading the molting section the other day about pre molt behavior and the list pretty much goes as follows : hyper activity, inactivity, grey eyes/carapace, normally colored eyes/carapace, eating more, eating less, switching into bigger shells, switching into smaller shells, also never forget you may not see any unusual behavior at all lol

Hello :) I just had a really big thunderstorm yesterday, and all crabs were nowhere in sight, they didn’t come out until the storm ended
