My PP loves shell shopping and frequently switches shells.

My largest PP is named Penny Wise, Penny for short. She is gray and red, but when she is wet her gray is almost a silvery purple. She is very pretty! My two other hermit crabs have only changed into a shell once right after molt. Except I changed up their tank the other day and one put a much too big shell on. But we find Penny to be shell shopping a lot. She has two favorite shells, a spotted and striped one. She switches between these two often, but started fancying a new shell. Penny also moves all the shells around, you never see them in the same place the next day. I swear whenever she is up and adventuring around, it is to stick her antennas in each shell and wonder if she wants to take a new one for a spin.

It is really cute, but I worry she will want one already taken. I have 4 PPs. Luckily they are all too small for her, except the one that changed it's shell had chosen the shell of Penny's recent fancy.

Have you had a crabbie steal another crabbie's shell?
I always keep plenty of same size and larger shells for each PP.

Crabs will steal other crabs shells, but they appear to only do so when they don't have a good amount of other options. We recommend 3-5 shells per crab of a preferred size and type, so as long as you have enough you should be fine.

My Salty does that a lot too, she has 3 that she likes a lot and goes back and forth with. One is too small, she’s even shoved herself into an even smaller white one. I call her my fashionista since she likes to change a lot. I think I’ve read on here somewhere that they just like to change since they have the options, they might not so much in the wild.

I call her my fashionista since she likes to change a lot. I think I’ve read on here somewhere that they just like to change since they have the options, they might not so much in the wild.

Mine crabbie does this he has or she has 3 or 4 shells ... he is always switching always .... ....but he always ends up in the same one after a while and he wont touch the one but all the other 3 he keeps switching constantly like once a day .... lately he stayed for like 2 or 3 days
