sexing a crab

sexing a crab

I understand how to tell if the crab is male or female, but how do yall get them to come out enough to see? i don't want to hurt them, but i'd like to know if i have any females... i've just assumed they're all males..

Hold the crab by the shell, and act like you are going to set it on the table, or on a branch, but keep it just enough out of reach for it. Hopefully they will come out enough for you to see. If they don't, I wouldn't push it. ;P I personally only get a look at mine, if they are reaching for something, but even then I never remember! LOL

I tried this the other day and kept feeling guilty for having them out, so I put the one guy (or girl???) back.

Same! My son and I tried this last night and we both felt so guilty....
