Questions about Crabs?

Ok so I have noticed something odd with my girls. Bat girl had another great molt and looks great. I noticed Ms. Hearts walking around the other day and saw something odd that I had to take a double look at her. I saw what looked like really bright blood on her legs. Glad to see that it wasn't anything like that but shocked to see this really bright coloring on her. Esp since she has always been on the lighter side more pinkish white colors than everyone else. It has been awhile since her molt so I thought that it was odd to pop that much color one day.
I noticed that it is just the girls that have done this. Bat Girl is now the same. Her lower limbs are bright red. Don't get me wrong they are really pretty but it is odd that this just showed up out of no where!? Do they do that? The boys seem to be paying more attention to them as well. I am curious as to what this means and why it happened? Is this a spring thing that they do at a certain age? Is is a mate thing? I have had them for a long time and they have gotten darker but never like this o.0. This is something new to me lol. I know I have some oddball crabs but this is really strange of them lol. Anyone else have this happen to their crabs before or have their crabs behave this way?
The pictures seem to make it look more Orange but it is more red under regular lighting.

They both have grown so much but this is the first and fastest color change that they have ever done. Was just wondering if it meant something or if it is normal?

They look great! I would say the color change is normal - their diets are probably good, and it seems like larger crabs are more colorful than smaller ones.

Thank you! Yea I kinda have the piggies of the Hermit crab world lol. They eat way more than they are supposed to. The change was just so fast lol. I hadn't added the new mineral stuff that was sent to me from The Hermit Crab Patch so it wasn't that n other than that I haven't added any new foods just yet. Didn't know tho if it was a season change thing......even tho it is the first day of spring n you'd never know it since there is ankle deep worth of snow outside atm lol.

Lol I hear ya! I've had a couple of mine change colors pretty drastically during one or 2 molts. It makes identifying them pretty difficult.

It would be interesting if it was a seasonal thing!

Also changes in season mean changes in colour too! The extra UVB may have added to their distinct colour change as well!

They both look like they've molted recently in their after pics to me. Hairy and nice pointy nails.

Color change happens after molting (though of course their coloring doesn't always change). But sometimes they resurface a little early so their coloring appears to change a bit after they completely finish recovering.

My crabs change color rather drastically after a molt but not like that.
But they look happy and healthy so you are doing everything great, I guess it could be a mate thing, but I have no idea whatsoever if that is what it is

Thank you all for the replies ^.^! Happy that is normal lol. Emily, yea that is what the hubby was worried about lmao that it was a mating thing . Yea they eat healthy enough lol like a bunch of teenagers . Clean out their food bin rather fast too. I had to buy a bigger one recently to hold all of their stuff lol that is how much they eat. A drawer in my fridge is all theirs lmao. N that is everyday eating lol.
