Haha just learned that they do that kind of shinanagins all the time. Molting in moss pits... Quite popular.

What's he tryna do?
Re: What's he tryna do?
I've read a few cases here of the odd moss pit molt but they are far from normal. If you do happen to notice a crab molting in the moss pit, carefully move the crab -moss pit and all- to ISO (or block off that area from other crabs) just to be safe. Normal, healthy molts occur deep under the substrate.

I don't think so, my other crab Junior sat right next to him not aggressive or anything for Matty's molt. They really enjoy it tbh. I've never had to worry about ISOing a molting crab before. I've also been told I have a peculiar set up so maybe I just have peculiar crabbies. They all really enjoy the moss pit and leave molting crabs alone for the most part. If I ever have any issues with aggression I'll be sure to take your advice. Cannibalism sounds extremely horrible.CallaLily wrote:I've read a few cases here of the odd moss pit molt but they are far from normal. Re: What's he tryna do?
ISOing normal, healthy molts is unnecessary. But any surface molts or moss pits molts really can put the crab at risk of attack. They are not healthy or normal molts.
My crabs love hanging in the moss pits too...thankfully I've never had a molt there.

Sorry, but cannibalism has just never been a problem and I'd rather not stress over nothing.CallaLily wrote:ISOing normal, healthy molts is unnecessary. But any surface molts or moss pits molts really can put the crab at risk of attack. They are not healthy or normal molts.

Here's a thread about Molting, if you haven't seen it yet. Good luck to you and your crabs.
