We recently swapped from a 20 gallon tank to a 55 gallon tank. The 55 gal is 13 inches wide by 48 inches long and around two and a half feet tall (I'm guessing on the height). It's got between 11-13 inches of substrate (play sand/coco fiber mix, sandcastle consistency), which is much deeper than the old tank had.
The crabs aren't digging down into the sub like they were in the other tank. I don't know if this is because it has cooled off and the sand is colder or if it's something else. We are waiting for our UTH to come in; we do have lamps set up on a 24/7 cycle to keep it warm, temps around 76-78, which is a little lower than I'd like but they'll have the new UTH within the week.
Could they not be digging just because it's a new tank and they don't realize they can dig down that far or maybe it's the temperature? I don't know why I'm worried about it, I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually.
Crabs actually NOT digging...new tank.

When did you move them to the new tank? When I changed to my 125 it took a few day before mine started digging. It wasn't until the novelty of the new tank had worn off the they decided to dig. Some have been down since (Sept 9) molting once they got settled in.

My crabs always went nuts with exploring new tanks for a few days to about a week before they started going down to molt/destress.

It's been about a month now. 4 of the crabs had only been in the old tank for about a week or so after we rescued them from the mall.
