Vacant Stares

I received yesterday hermit crabs from my friend who lives off the beach. They are all purple pincer crabs, three small and one large. They are currently in a 5gallon for the day, until I can buy a 10 or 20 gallon to properly house them. They were all active last night, and I awoke this morning to find the smallest two missing (buried right?), and the larger two staring blankly out of the tank without moving. Are they just adjusting to the quiet environment, or is something up? I realize that the tank is too small, but that should be remedied today.
Thanks for your input, I'm new to this.

Sometimes crabs just stare.

However, eyestalks and antennae drooping or together usually mean poor health. If the crabs don’t react to any stimuli then they may be passing away.

Could be a sign they are napping, or there version of sleep. Some of mine have vacant stares (droopy eyes and antennae) when sleeping abd perk right back up once awake.
