Hello! My one hermit crab always stay in the cooler side of the tank (around 70 degrees), and I would move him in the warmer side but he always makes his way back to the cooler side. Should I be concerned or is this normal behavior?

How are you currently heating your tank?

Make sure to check the humidity levels as well, as cooler areas will be higher in moisture. It could be anything from wanting to regulate temperature, to wanting to regulate the humidity, to just that's where the best hideout area is.

From my understanding, heat lamps can zap away the humidity in the tank & also create overly hot-spots that aren’t good for the crabs. Your crab probably doesn’t want to be under the harsh heat. I would consider getting a heat mat for the side of the tank instead. Hope this helps

I agree. I only use a heat lamp as an add-on during the cold months, and it's kept at a fair distance away.
