See them for what?! There is nothing that a vet can do for them other then tell the owners to give them good conditions! Sounds like a scam...

Hermits tend to go through phases where they eat a lot and then eat very little. They also tend to go through phases where they like to leave poo in one particular place, and then will change it up to someplace else for seemingly no reason. Some months my tank looks perfectly clean for weeks on end with no work, and others I can clean the same area every day and they fill it up again by the next night!

Yes, I thought it kinda sounded like a scam too. Certainly don't plan on taking my crabs to the vet but, was interested to know how much the vet knew about them. I definitely love my little critters.

Great poop video...haha. Thanks for posting the link.

When I had spoken with seagrest farms she told me that she was going to have her vet check the remaining blues since they weren't doing so hot. I was dumbfounded by that. I think honestly in her case it was ignorance. She just didn't know any better and from her tone and everything seemed genuine. Other places who knows.

All of these posts were helpful but even after watching the video, I am still having a hard time finding poop! Is this normal when you use echo substrate? Should I be concerned? We have two crabs ands we have had them for a month.

Don't worry about the poop. Once you find it, you will realize it is EVERYWHERE!!!!!! Crab poop basically has nothing to do with their health. It won't make a difference for you.
If you REALLY want to know, break out a magnifying glass and hunt for "crab noodles!" You know how goldfish poo that string of poop? Look for a crab version of that. A thin string of poop. However crabs cant just dangle a poop spaghetti like the free flowing goldfish does. So you're looking for more of a crab macaroni, the same poop but in smaller segments. It does camoflauge VERY well with eco earth. I have mistaken new EE with crab poop before. The best place to spot crab poop is in the food dish, within a pile of shells, or at a "dump site." Crabs will back up a bunch of poo in their shells and dump a bunch off in one place. It will very likely NOT be where they like to sleep. Have fun!

It sticks out like a sore thumb on sand, but like everyone else says - EE and dark substrate hide it:
