I've been looking all over for a post concerning GOOD things to see your Hermie do... Play, eat, anything. What are some things that a hermie can do that immediately tell you that you're doing something right?

Molt successfully. Once they get that first one done then you can relax and know they should be okay. Sadly they can linger for so long after an injury or severe stress, and can act normally up until the point they pass away. Even in bad conditions hermits will still act the same as they would in good for a long time.

Breed in captivity! If you have zoea in your pools you are obviously doing something right!!

I've known many keepers who have ended up with eggs over the years, not many have "ideal" tanks in the way that is recommended these days. (So either modern standards are way overblown or hermits aren't as picky about breeding as was once thought.)

Mine are in very basic and what would be considered overcrowded totes and I've had five sets of eggs in the water dish so far this summer.

I agree wodesorel. Getting the eggs isn't all that hard. Having deeper salt pools with airstones has made the difference in them hatching I think. Then getting them from zoea to land isn't all that difficult either just time consuming
