Moving to Hawaii with hermies

Post by Boricubana » Thu Nov 02, 2017 9:13 pm

Does anyone know about the regulations for hermit crabs moving to Hawaii? I’ve done research and some contradict one another. They all say it’s illegal but some say depends on the type of crab. I would like to know if anyone has moved to Hawaii with their hermit crabs and what the process is. Thanks.

Have you tired contacting the feds for an answer? If its anything like Australia, I'd go with no. ;)

I remember from a few years back, we determined it was in fact illegal to have terrestrial hermies there. :( http://www.hawaiiag.org/hdoa/pi_pq_animal.htm

I'm sure you cannot take non-native species there, but there should be some native hermits you can keep unless they're protected. There are a few neat marine aquarium hermits from Hawaii seen at pet shops.
