My tank is growing mold!

I'm a new crab owner, I've had my Hermit crabs for only a few weeks, and recently I have gotten a ten gallon tank, and switched from sand and gravel to coconut fiber substrate because I had read that it would be ideal for when my crabs molt. In my former tank, I found that I could leave food for my hermit crabs in the tank for a couple days, even when the temp reads 80 degrees and the humidity reads 70. But when I tryed to do the same thing in my new ten gallon, two days later it was covered in mold! As soon as I noticed I removed the food ASAP, and I can't see anymore mold, but could there still be mold spores floating around in my crabitat? And if so, how do I get rid of them without hurting my crabbies?

I have done this before. Some foods mold faster. If you removed all the mold, you should be okay. I would just keep an eye out, check regularly. You shouldn't need a deep clean, just the spot clean should have been enough.

Mould isn't harmful to the crabs as it is to us, so if any mould spores develop, manual removal of that area will be fine.

Mine does the same thing, I change my food every other day and clean around where I see any other little spots. Clean the spots you can and you’ll be fine.
