Crabbies on a a plane?

Post by Guest » Fri Nov 03, 2006 4:59 pm

Hi guys and gals,

I'm moving to England after Christmas (from Rhode Island), and want to bring my two lovely crabbies with me. Any idea if I can bring them on the plane?

Here's a website on travelling with pets that lists airlines that allow you to take your pet with you in the cabin:
http://www.sherpapet.net/airlines/index.php?air_type
I'd call then anyweay, though, to make sure they consider hermit pets crabs and to find out if you need a healthy certificate or something.

Each airline has their own rules on what they allow in the cabin and what has to be checked as cargo. The only one I am familiar with is Delta. They do not allow anything except small dogs and cats in the cabin. All reptiles, amphibians and such (they don't specifically mention crabs, but I asked) must be shipped as cargo. You might be better off mailing them to yourself. Check with one of the members here who ships crabs for details on how to do it.

Another thing to check. England has pretty strict requirements about bringing in pets. At least with cats, they have to be quarantined in a vet's office for six months to make sure they are disease free. I know hermies don't carry diseases, but you never know what their health regulations are, so best to check first.

Good luck!!
