New Tank

Post by MrTeacherDude » Sun Aug 21, 2016 9:02 am

This is the 75G tank I will be working on this month.

Long road ahead to clean it today...then the process of moving it to my classroom, filling with substrate, and finally crabs. Ordering a UTH and some other goodies for it.

However my question is a lid...if I buy the long screen cover for it, would it fit since there's a metal support in the middle of the tank?

Screen lids drop down over the rim of the tank; as the mid-support is the same height as the rest of the rim, a screen lid should fit. That said, I'm not sure that screen lids are made for 75gs. Check sites like ReptileBasics.com and DrsFoster&Smith and, of course, craigslist, where you may find a terrarium screen lid that would work.

Ok, they sit over the outside edges? I'm thinking they sat on those inside ledges like a glass lid would've.

My 75G is a standard tank (I think) which would be 48x18x21...(I need to measure again...)

This said 48x18...I would think this would work, correct?

Screen lids fit on the outside of the tank. Then, if desired, you can buy clips to keep them on. I know because I have two snakes. Lol :)

I've found one that fits 75G at Dr's Foster and Smith. Seems they don't make a hinged version...oh well!
