Meh...great humidity crappy temperature

Post by Krabby_Mommie78 » Mon Aug 22, 2016 6:05 pm

I need help!! I ordered an ultratherm but it's not here yet. I turned the heat lamp off last night and went to work today. Last night the temp was 73 and 99% humidity. I came home a little while ago and the humidity is 93% but the temperature was 68. Heat lamp back on!!! What else can I do?!?

Maybe try putting the heat lamp back on if you have a goose neck lamp maybe put it next to the tank but far enough away it won't crack the glass to bring the temps up ? Or you could try wrapping a blanket.around the tank to add more heat

The problem with heat lamps is they aren't safe to leave on unattended. They can also dap humidity, but obviously you aren't having that issue. If you put a blanket over the tank while you are away it might help like recomended above. If that doesn't work you could try adding a uth, preferably ultratherm, or flukers as you can safely insulate them. I have only used ultratherm though, and that is by far the more popular option. Foil or reflectix might help the temp rise while the lamp is on in the meantime, just watch your levels close, it's trial and error really as every climate is different.

Thank you!!! I will use a blanket...until my ultratherm gets here. Should I use a sheet or what type of blanket? I'm worried about my crabbies.

I have a fuzzy blanket...should I still leave an open area for air? I know that's probably a silly thing to ask
