Calibrating Hydrometer - Works on both Analog and Digital?

Post by PinchersAndShells » Tue Aug 23, 2016 12:35 pm

Does the method of calibrating your hydrometer work for both analog and digital? I can't see why it wouldn't, but I want to be positive.
Also, is there a way to calibrate your thermometer as well? Or is that just a mystery?

I have both analog right now, and am going to be upgrading to digital as soon as my mom will let me get hold of my credit card.

Usually thermometers are calibrated by putting the probe in an ice bath and adjusting the readout but not all thermometers are made in a way that you can do that.

Yes, you can do the salt test with any hydrometer but some cannot be adjusted so you would have to remember the difference.

Say it is 5 points off. So you have to automatically add 5 points every time you read it.

Ahh, thank you. I'll be sure that if I can't adjust to write the difference down on my whiteboard. :)
