Heating Water?
Heating Water?
So I'm looking at getting crabs within the next few weeks and will be purchasing a spray bottle to mist my tank. Should I heat the water before I mist the tank?

Heating Water?
I add warm water in so I'm not spraying freezing cold water in their tank, but I'm also an over achiever. I wouldn't spray ice cold water in there, but room temp or warmer is always fine.
I guess what I do is fill my bottles with warm water but I don't worry about it after that. If it cools it's not a big deal. I just try not to use ice water. But I doubt it would hurt them. I would be more concerned with spraying the glass where a uth is. Heat and cold on glass is not a good mix...

Re: Heating Water?
I use room temp FW for misting.
Re: Heating Water?
Your tat will condition the water temperature quickly, so as long as its not supercold i doubt it matters or have much impact.

Re: Heating Water?
The only time I would suggest using lukewarm water (which would be around 80 degrees - humans suck at guessing water temp and "warm" is usually well over 100!) is if you have a UTH or a heat lamp aimed through glass, and it's the middle of winter. A drastic temperature difference between what is in the spray bottle and the surface of the glass where the heat is concentrated can cause the glass to shatter. 99.99% of the time it's never going to be a problem, but if the water is cold because the house is cold, and the glass is hot because the heater is working overtime to keep the tank warm, then there can be issues.
