Temp Range for PP's

Hi. We have 3 PP's. We have had them since July. Temp/humidity was great with UTH til Oct. Then temp started dropping when the temp outside started dropping (low 70s). And crabbies stayed hidden, when they had previousLy came out early evening. Knew someone keeps coming up at tho night because water is dirty in AM.) So I put the basking bulb back in the lamp tonight. (UTH was already insulated with foil and foam board.) Temp creeped back up to low 90s on hotter end (low-mid 80s on cooler end). At least one crab is back up tonight wandering around.
I know heat has helped. But how hot is too hot for PPs? Info on HCA says up to 85 is ideal.
Is the tat too warm on the one end? I am planning to turn the heat source (75w basking pointed at outside of tat) off in bit. It is usually on a timer, and has been just a UVB. Trying out the basking again, but I may have to go down to the 50w I have.
