Air composition?

Has anyone wondered what the air composition is like in the crabitats. We keep them covered to keep in the humidity and the crabs. We rarely have live plants that can make O2 as our crabs will eat them. I expect that putting air in with a "bubbler" or fish tank pump would put in some air. It has me thinking.....

You definitely need airflow. I use double bubblers so i feel like i'm covered. If someone doesn't have bubblers i recommend using a computer fan to draw air in through an opening.

Do they need to be bubblers in water or can the hose from the pump be putting air into the environment itself?

You totally could just pump in air! That would be a smart alternative. Its just that we know crabs love bubbles, so we bubble when we can. Most crabbers can benefit from the added humidity. Pumping in just air might make things a but dry.
I'm thinking of moving the bubbler out of my SW and just bubbling my FW. The bubble SW kicks up a lot of salt that crystalizes all over the tank, which is a pain to clean.

But i like giving the crabs moving water, i feel it is a feeble attempt to give them back part of the wild.

YYWW, putting the bubbler into the fresh water will mean you won't get as high humidity compared to doing it in the saltwater. (If that makes sence?)

AussieJJDude, im thinking thats what i want. My humidity has been 99% for close to 3 months. I want 85%, and even when all my moss is bone dry it stays at 99%. Watcha think?

Theres only one way to find out, try it.

(Great advice, right?) If it doesn't work out, you can always change it back.
