Nightmare Before Christmas Themed Crabitat

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum.

I have a 45g tank that I would like to have a Nightmare Before Christmas themed tank. I wasn't having very much luck finding spooky, halloween, or NMBC themed aquatic-safe figurines.

I found some orange play sand that would be awesome to use along with the coconut fiber substrate mixed. Is this bad for them?

You all have any ideas of how I could go about it? Second level ideas too?

Thanks in advance!

I personally wouldn't trust any dyed sand. It may be harmful to the crabs, much like painted shells.

I love your theme idea though! Maybe look outside of fish or reptile things....like a big ceramic Jack mug as a moss pit/hide for smaller crabs or print out a background for the tank?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Any idea where I could get items like this to put in the tank?

I see a lot of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff out in stores around Halloween and Christmas. Maybe try amazon?? EBay??

I picked up the purple spider web bowls from Dollar Tree several Halloweens ago and still use them for water dishes (they hold around 2-3 cups). Not nightmare before Christmas but I think something like it might work with the theme.

Those are awesome!!

I may do a half Christmas/half Halloween theme.

I haven't checked Amazon/eBay in a long while for stuff. May can try again. What material would you recommend to put in tank?

Ceramic, plastic, glass, resin, some kinds of wood are safe. I'm sure there's much more that can be safely used...I'm just drawing a blank right now.

Check your local thrift stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc) -- they almost always have holiday stuff and may even have some plastic Nightmare Before Christmas items in their toy section.

Yes, yes, yes! How could I forget!? You can definitely find some awesome things at thrift stores for great prices - sometimes even actual pet stuff! :D

Goodwill or online stores will probably be your best bet on finding stuff that's out of season. Also, I'm begging that you post pics once you get things going! I LOVE The Nightmare Before Christmas and I bet your tank will look amazing. :)

Does Hot Topic still carry Nightmare Before Christmas stuff? They did a decade ago, but I haven't been in one since.

That sounds like some good ideas. I will definitely check the thrift stores out. I usually go there on the weekends.

I will definitely post pics. I'm excited to see how it ends up.

Pretty sure Hot Topic still sells NMBC. I will double check their merchandise.

The mug and the pint glasses set could work. The mug filled with moss and the cups as hides.

Cool idea but don't use colored sand.
