Wet play sand

Hi there,
I am moving my crabs to a bigger tank and am going to mix sand in with the coco fiber. We got a bag of play sand at Home Depot but it is very moist. It looks perfectly clean but do I need to rinse it with dechlorinated or salt water? I am thinking they probably rinsed it with tap water that would be chlorinated so I don't know if it's bad to use it right out of the bag or if the chlorine would have dissipated by now. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I got a pretty wet bag before, just to be safe I decided to bake the sand ( to dry it out and sanitize it since I don't know why the sand was so wet in the bag.). Then when I add it to the tank I use dechlorinated water to moisten in back up to sand castle consistency.

Everything I've ever picked up at HD or Lowes has been bone dry. In your case, I personally wouldn't bake it and then re-wet it, I would probably just rinse it really well with the final rinse containing a dechlorinator and then pop it into the tank.

OR, exchange it for a dry bag!

Thanks, that's good advice, we baked the sand as well so I feel a lot better about it. Thanks!
