*SOLVED* Relocating my hermies? No substrate

Post by bxbylxv » Mon Aug 15, 2016 5:47 pm

So I'm a new owner, and I have a 10 gallon tank at home for the crabs, but no substrate. They're still in the small plastic cage I got them in with only a tiny bit of gravel. I'd like to move them for more space to add their water bowls, but I honestly have nothing but fish gravel from my dad. What should I do?

Is there any way you can get a $5 bag of playsand from a hardware store?

They have to have proper substrate. That isn't something that can be compromised on.

Eco Earth and playsand are not expensive and once the tank is setup it doesn't need to be changed.

I'll ask my dad to get some play sand, which is top on my supply list. I think the earliest I can get it is in 2 days. I don't want to leave 3 crabs in a small container for longer than they have to. But I guess I'll just leave them there with the gravel that came with the cage?

They will be okay for a couple of days. Do the best you can and try to keep them warm and humid.
