Complicated habitat

I do not currently have a hermit crab but we had some as kids and I wanted to do this for my kids as well. We also had a fish tank. I was wondering if I could have both land hermit crabs and fish in the same tank and still maintain a healthy environment for both. My thought was to build a sort of beach on one end of a large tank and have water on the other end for freshwater fish. I would of course have all the accoutrements for both in each habitat. Do you think it's possible to do so and has anyone done this already?

It's not advisable. Crabs need room and floor space for molting and fish need plenty of space as well.

Yes, it could work... If over 200g and you understand how to (properly) care for each animal separately. The best bet would be to do a 5 gallon sized tank inside the crabitat and put a few bits of java moss, some live plants and some cherry shrimp.snails... With filtration of course.
