Hello there is a huge bug on penny

Post by kieagcarm » Sun Oct 30, 2016 7:09 pm

I was looking close at penny in the moss pit, and there is a white bug on her big claw, where it bends, I'm freaking out, I don't do bugs. It's big. What do I do

Is it possible to take a picture?
Check this thread out "What's that Bug in the Crabitat"(http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 26&t=92537) does it look like any of those?

Yeah it looks like the first one, but I got her out to take a picture and to put her in the water, it may have been a piece of this sphagnum moss. I can't find out now and there are definitely not any more. I have a bug phobia and it may have been me just freaking out. I can't find any more, not in the sand, moss or on her. She is mad at me now, literally staring me downImage who can blame her

We've all had moments like this. I frequently find myself looking for my crabs' food in my pen drawer. Freaking out because I can't find any only to realize what I'm doing. Too much college school work I suppose... as I walk to the fridge i sometimes hear Olve laughing at me... I look over my shoulder to find him sitting at the glass staring at me like I'm an idiot and writing cuss words in the fog of his breath to "get crackin on that dinner already" Children can have such attitudes sometimes.. he must get it from his fatherImage

I have to add that I near daily have a mini heart attack because I mistake my hair for spiders on the floor. My carpet is light brown and my hair is very very curly and dark brown so it always looks like little spiders on the floor. Imagine when it's windy and the breeze comes in from the window sending the hair flying... Let's just say I vacuum often

I am terrified of bugs, even now I'm sitting here watching walking dead but can't focus cuz all I can think is what if it was a bug? How can I be sure? It looked an awful lot like that first bug in the article, poor potent is being eaten alive if I'm wrong, then they will become three bugs, ten, a thousand and eat all my crabs then they will move out of the crabitat into my room and I'll have to move out

That is literally my exact thought process every time I see a bug in my room and it disappears while I run to get a shoe to kill it

I recommend deep breaths and a thorough search of the tank to soothe the nerves

You are in the wrong hobby if you dislike bugs that much... Crabitats are the perfect environment for bugs. I can't tell you how many different types of critters I've found in my tats.

Right now they are loaded with food mites--1000's of them. To get rid of the food mites, I had loaded the tanks down with 100's of rollie pollies.
