Crab acting strange
Crab acting strange
Garby our first hermit crab is acting odd. He was alone for a long time before we adopted him. I purchased two new crabs over the weekend. I only have one heat lamp so I put a ok in my tank for an iso. He has seriously been trying to dig between the Iso and the wall of the tank since last night I took him outta there twice because he looked stuck I have no idea what he could want over there. I put put fresh food in and he ignored to try to get in that spot.

Please don't mind my typos my kids have ravaged my key board and all the keys don't work quite right.

Re: Crab acting strange
Hermies do like to tunnel around other structures, it keeps their tunnels better supported and makes them feel safer
That's why they often tunnel under water/food bowls or if you have a hidey, you might find crabs dug under the hidey. It's also possible he got a whiff of the new guys and is curious to see them
Even in a large tank, all the current crabs will know a new guy has been added by smell (When I re-introduced Moose to my 60g, about 7 crabs came out of hiding to greet him and push him around
)
