Glow in the dark dishes?

Post by Happyhermiehome » Mon Sep 04, 2017 12:08 am

So my very first crab came to me with a set of those reptirock type dishes that glow in the dark. They are kinda cool but haven't used them. i just feel like whatever makes them glow can't be good for crabs?...just wondering if anyone can confirm weather not they are safe?

If they are painted Id go with 100% no. If they arent, id say a hesitant yes. It may be fine, but i personally wouldnt

I have received them with adoptions and chucked them in the trash. Makes me too nervous to have food or water in contact with them not knowing what all is in them. Acidic foods or lower pH water will cause chemicals to react and be released, so a dish a lot more worrisome than a decoration!

They are not painted. Whatever makes them glow is in the plastic/resin. I'm currently using oyster shell halves as my main food dishes and I really like the way they look and the fact that they are natural and the crabs actually pick at and eat them as well. The glow dishes have been in the crab supplies drawer since I got them. I suppose I'll chuck them out now lol.
