Re: New enclosure
Ok thanks. How do you like the natural look? What do you think about a driftwood second level?

Re: New enclosure
I like it but I think you need more vines of some sort for climbing... I'm sure you can find something to keep with the natural theme.agentcrabby wrote:Ok thanks. How do you like the natural look? What do you think about a driftwood second level?

So I want to send pics of my lil guys and gals but they eat and are most active at night. I worry the flash will startle them. Do you all take flash photos at night?GotButterflies wrote:I love the natural theme!

Re: New enclosure
I do not. Some of mine are active during the day, especially in the summer.

Re: New enclosure
What are people's opinion of cuttlebone to supply calcium for hermies? I also feed them eggshells and whole shrimp, but want to ensure they are receiving the required minerals.
Thanks!

Cuttlebone is fine.
I keep one in the tank along with egg shells and oyster shells at all times

My crabs love their cuttlbone. They turned the last one into a shiv and are trying to saw the new one in half.

Re: New enclosure
So I went out at 2am, and enjoyed seeing my gang eating shrimp, a carrot and an oak branch. Sorry no pics bc I don't want the flash to blind them, although maybe it's just like lightning in the wild, so perhaps its ok?
I am looking at infrared lights so I can observe then better late at night without disturbing them. Fyi, i do not want heat, just light...Does anyone have any experience with infrared lights?

Re: New enclosure
No, sorry. I purchased a moon for my hermits. I can see them, but not enough to take pictures. Some people use flash, but I do not.

Here is the moon I purchased:

Edit: I have my moon hanging on the ceiling of the room. This way both crabitats can see it. It is bright. I would never hang it in the cage because my crabbies could pinch the cord.
