Hey all! Since the weather has been cooling where I am in the north east I have started to have a little trouble keeping my tank above 80*. I want my tank to be generally better 82-85*. I made a really quick and easy insulating topper that I thought I'd share, i just put it on 20 minutes ago and it's already brought the temp up around 3* and I imagine I might even get more heat up to a point the longer it's on there. All it is is a piece of cardboard with foil taped on, shiny side out. I'm just putting it on top of my tank, over my acrylic sheet I've been using thus far for humidity control.

Yay! Great idea! And your recycling too!
I did a similar thing with a piece of cardboard cut to fit most of my screen side and taped a trash bag over it to hold in the humidity. It works great and I can easily take it on and off with out fiddling with that press seal anymore. I will try covering the underside with foil when it gets colder here if I find I need a heat boost!
Thanks for sharing!

Your welcome

I checked out reflectix and realized it's just bubble wrap with foil on both sides and decided instead of buying this huge role that was mostly gonna go to waste I would just wait until I get a package with bubble wrap, which will certainly happen sooner or later. I hate throwing things away and if I buy something like that I'll just end up pointlessly hoarding it forever. Can't wait to get my hands on some plastic packaging, I'm sure I'm gonna need even better insulation as winter comes on.
