Possible upgrade, and final!

Post by ciaraalston » Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:26 am

Hey y'all!! I might have my hands on a BOW FRONT TANK! ImageImage I seriously have dreamed of one for years, especially since I've gotten the hermies.

It's supposed to be like 80 gallons. It comes with a short stand (homemade) all for $100. Here's the pics that were posted on letgo:

I hope it's actually a bigger tank and that there's no issues. If so, it's my last upgrade. Unless there's an adoption near me (which I haven't found anyone that even has hermit crabs near me besides Texas) I won't be getting any more. I'm sticking with my 5. (I say that now, but nobody quote me on it later ImageImage)

Anyways, just wanted to share! If all works out I'm using the egg crate idea from @aussie and @moto to set it up!! I HATE the suction cups I'm using right now for everything. They keep falling!ImageImageImage

She's in the garage, waiting to be cleaned! I'll probably not set this up for a month or so, I've got molters down and one in ISO so I've got time. She's basically the same size as the 55 length and height, just with a curved front. She's beautiful though!!!

The Egg Crate is what aussieJJDude started with his latest upgrade. It's using the light diffuser material you see them in offices that use fluorescent lighting. Think giant plastic crafting mesh. I really liked aussies idea and experimented on a 20 tall we have with the stuff. Pretty much summed up I added the egg crate to to the sides and rear of the tank, then attached coco fiber, wheel, moss pit, different levels all attached to it. So far the crabs haven't been able to tear anything apart that is zip tied. I had a lot of fun working with the stuff.

Here's a link to the post and progress of making the tank to give you a better idea.
