When my kitty's cancer was progressing, she started going outside of the litter box. I ended up having to put out 3 litter boxes for her so she could access the potty from any point in the house. In a 1,000 sq ft home I had a box in my room, the living room, and the basement. It was so crazy, but it worked. She stopped going outside the box as much. One thing that drove me crazy though was that she NEVER covered her poo after she went. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and smell it in her box and have to go cover it. She was such a diva haha!curlysister wrote:Yay for adopting a kitteh!!
I have 5 litter boxes!
See, your kitty knew you were going to need 5 litter boxes, so he was just trying to help out LOL.curlysister wrote:Aw, the things we do for our furry friends. I had a cat who wasn't sick, just a jerk. He would pee on the floor if he didn't get what he wanted. So I added litter boxes to all his 'favorite' spots.....that's how I ended up with 5 of them. But then I ended up with four cats - and the recommendation is number of cats + 1 for number of litter boxes, so it works just fine for us.
Because of the volume, I use a cheaper litter, but the best litter I have found for odor control is the Arm and Hammer Double Duty. They have a couple of other newer ones I haven't tried, but you could start with that brand and see if any work for you.
I hope the new stuff works out for you! Keep us updated.Jlmills525 wrote:my husband got some sort of corn cob litter that was supposed to be "fragrance free" OMG it smelled SOOOO perfumy! i almost gagged just pouring it in. SO I checked a bunch on amazon and walmart.com for reviews and kept coming up with "World's Best Litter" brand and order some of that.. it comes in on Thursday.
