Topper Test!

Post by piratetoothgir » Mon Aug 06, 2018 4:37 pm

I slapped on a 20 gallon long to my 55 today, just to test it, it’s most likely not permanent. Since there isn’t a lid for the other side, I covered it with plastic wrap for now :)

When you add toppers on, do you attach them in a way or leave them as is?

That looks AWESOME!!!! I am so jealous!!! Are those lights installed to the inside of the topper?? I love it!! If you need a lid for the other side, try egg crate light diffuser with some seran wrap ;)

Some like to tape then together, others like to velco.... some leave how it is, its often has enough weight that you can leave as is.

Haha, you're tryna convert everyone over to eggcrate? ;)

Ohh, neat! I thought people permanently attached them via screws or sealant at first.

Thanks, everyone! :D
But, the topper has been taken down, it was a great trial run through!
I had just finished putting it up, and two crabs were already at the top when I was done.

I did not bust the bottom out, it’s still transforming into a divided tank to hold my male bettas.

Sounds to me that you need to source another tank for a topper...? ;)

Yeah, need to purchase a 20 high, that'd be easier.

You can never have enough 'spares'... Its a 'just in case I brought 20 new fish home that need specialized conditions' type of thing. ;)

I like to think I'm encouraging everyone to get more tanks and understand that its a wholesome and all around, a good idea.

True that!! We have 2 spare 10 gallons and 1 spare 20 gallon long. Between adoptions and fish we ended up with extra. But it helped because when we needed to ISO the dojo loach, there was a spare tank with a pump and filter ready!

That looked awesome! How do you put the topper...meaning do you somehow take the bottom out?
