Classroom CrabCam

Post by djinniman » Tue Nov 10, 2015 4:11 pm

Thanks to everyone here at the HCA, our classroom crabitat seems to be working out very well. The kids and I have really enjoyed learning about hermit crabs and their very unique qualities! Unfortunately, as you all know, the hermit crabs don't do much of anything during the day. I wanted some way for the kids (mainly the kids, but also me!) to be able to see the crabs at night from home.

And so, I set up... CrabCam!

I am leaving a single small battery powered LED light on overnight for viewing right now. I've ordered a rainbow LED strip and a timer, and will use them to keep a red light on until 9 pm or so in order to not disturb the day/night cycle too much.

Please check out our crabitat and take a look at our hermies. I'd love to hear what you all think of them.

From 9:00 Central Standard Time to the morning hours, the lights are off. It's not a problem with the stream, it's just really dark in there. ;)

Due to bandwidth and confidentiality concerns, I am only broadcasting after my kids leave. Viewing times will be around 3:00 CST to 9:00 CST. I may mess around with recordings, so you can see older footage anytime.
