Oh, I see what your saying now. I didn't put any type of sealant on it, but that would have been a good idea. My crabs haven't really picked at it besides the one time I found my crab stuck in the corner, trying to pick its way to freedom. But I did pull the mountain thing I made out of the tank yesterday and found in the cave part, shells and rocks. The shells were no surprise, my crabs rearrange the shells all over the tank, instead of leaving them in the shell shop. But the rocks were a surprise. I noticed a few rocks missing from the mountain, and I guess they pulled them off and hid them in the cave, which is humorous to me. I just imagine them thinking, "Haha, Parker won't see anything. We will show him not to put our shells back into the shell shop, and to leave us alone! (Crabs chirping in celebration of revenge)"

But anyway, back to the point, haha, sorry I get carried away sometimes. Even though they climb on it, it hasn't become torn apart, as far as I can tell, besides the missing rocks.

I would just worry about them eating it. Same reason painted shells are dangerous. The paint is toxic to them.
#1 rule of crabbing - crabs are weird.
#2 rule of crabbing - see above

Yeah, I spoke too soon... I've had this thing in the tank for since December, without any problems. And now Ollie's new favorite thing is to pick at the foam. I don't know of she is eating it or just picking at it. This is the third time today I have found her doing this. I have been moving her to the other side of the tank, but this time she is grasping on the mountain for dear life when I try to move her. And I haven't pulled on her hard, just tried to push her a little bit. She won't budge. I may be removing it tonight, if Ollie won't stop picking at it. It's sad, because I loved making it so much, and now I will have to rearrange the tank with it not in there. Ugh, why Ollie, why?
