Bought a silly wireless camera I can control with my phone and see the tank from side to side top to bottom. I'm at my buddies and logged in. Took two pix of them eating! Which I never get to see! Still some fine tuning to do. And then make it publicly viewable with an auto rotator.

This is just normal view.

This one here is night vision.

I'll take a few more when I get home and turn off all the lights to really check the night vision. But being able to use an app on my phone and or go to a private website with a login and watch and control. I'll figure a way to make part of it public

Also interested in which camera that is. Looks a fair sight better than mine, I'll say that (although mine was a cheapy deal off Meh, so I'm happy enough with 640x480 for now).

Awesome tank floorplan, too. Setups like these are giving me a lot of ideas for how to do my taller 30g over during the rebuild.

it was off of amazon of course for $75...I spent maybe an hour or so doing some research and ended up on this one, I'm not overly thrilled with the quality, it is only 1 megapixel, and it's really doing exactly what its designed for. So I can't be upset about that. It's for security not crabs, lol. It's a Foscam FI9821W V2 Megapixel HD 1280 x 720p. I went with the standard one, don't remember why but it made sense at the time. It did also take maybe about 30 mins to an hour to set it up. I'm not a networking guru or anything, but i know my way around DNS, routers, etc. So if you're not tech savvy, it may or may not be easy. Maybe the plug and play is easier, but didn't have as many features, dunno.

Hey, so I am considering ordering one of these. Took me hours to find this post again  I was wondering what limitations you've found with it? If I wanted to log in and watch while at work (10min drive across town with WiFi access if needed), can I? I'm only hesitant as the Canadian reseller of them has them about $20 more than the USA sellers (who don't ship to Canada of course), so I want to be sure it's going to be what I want it for before spending close to $100 lol

Yeah you can use it on your phone whether you are on Wi-Fi or your phone Internet. As long as the camera is connected to an internet source. Can be wireless or with a cord

Uhh you have to dial in the lighting in the room or put it at a certain distance so just trial and error on that. I have it on a lightweight 50" tripod. Mine does pause sometimes for like 5 to 30 seconds. Maybe once every few minutes. Could be my settings aren't optimal. Dunno. Also when I move the camera remotely from my phone app instead of my PC which is on the same WiFi. It'll get stuck or lag for a few seconds. Once again could be my settings

Thank you :D I found the model before this for almost $20 cheaper and the only real difference, besides look, is the colors during day light sometimes mess up, but I'm not too worried about it. It'll be here in a a week
