Robinson Crusoe's furniture

Post by BigglesLeCrab » Thu Apr 21, 2016 11:07 am

Couldn't sleep last night so made a hammock and a couple of bridges. The hammock is Jute twine wrapped around a wire frame with the ladder made from spruce. The two bridges are made with cut willow which was drilled and threaded on to two 1 millimetre wires, with enough space between the Willow dowels which allows them to be bent to shape. I'll cook all three items to clean them before putting them in the tank. (Hope these images upload)

This is what ends up happening to me late at night after I'm done working and can't get to sleep. "Well the crabs are up, they wouldn't mind me fiddling with stuff a bit..." then suddenly I'm off building things and forcing them upon the crabitat

Really like the hammock, my crabbies would probably gnaw it apart in a few months though for fun.

edit: I will say watch the wire though, make sure to keep a check on it. I had issue with supposedly shower safe metals before due to the constant high humidity.

Thanks Dan. Yeah I don't expect the hammock to last. Jute twine is biodegradable and any sign of the twine turning brown/red may indicate rust. That Hammock is 8 by 5 inches and used 11 meters of twine. Think I'll add another walkway to it. Don't want Einstein, Dave, Hewy and Dewy taking a dive off it. Their too cute for suicide lol

Love the bendable bridges! I can just see a little line of crabs crossing the bridge, sort of like the 7 Dwarfs on their way to work in the mine  .

Yeah and they'll have picks and shovels so they can make a right royal mess of the currently pristine substrate little devils and then they'll hide and be like
