HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hey all,

Previously I made a post about a PP I got with a bluish tint to him that was throwing me off. This time though, I think the new crab I just bought could be something different. She's bright blue all over (hence her name: Blueberry),except the bottom of her legs which are a bright red, and pictures will be attached below. Please let me know what species you think she is, I'm very curious as to if PPs can be THIS blue...







Side note: Yes I know she's in a painted shell, I just brought her home and there are 5 polished turbos waiting for her to choose from

Yes, you have a PP. They can come in ALL sorts of colors. Right now all of mine are purple and my straws are super red. I fed them something and they all changed colors on me. Very beautiful crab!

I'm going to ask a couple more people. I think it is a PP but it could very well be another species.

It's not necessary, many foods can enhance their colors.

Hermie's Kitchen on Etsy is a great store for hermie foods.

I just wanted to say that's a gorgeous crab! Foods high in astaxanthin and beta carotene can enhance colors, but there's no real way to know what food causes what. Lol some members have used uv lighting and think has improved crabs coloring, but this is just speculation. Either way, if the coloring is this pretty before a molt I can't wait to see it after! :3

Thank you!! She's so funny too, climbing around the tat like nobody's business gonna DIY a shell shop later too I can't wait to see her after a mold either, I think my biggest crab is down right now too so we've got lots coming!
